November – December 2016 Event Schedule – Key Club

 

NOVEMBER 2016

What:  Trick-or- Treat for UNICEF – Fundraiser for Eliminate Project

 $1.80 immunization cost protects and saves a mother and her future babies from the deadly disease called

“Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus” (MNT)

 Save 5 families for only $10.

 Money raised and the impact that you make will literally change and save lives of 61 million women and their

future babies.

 Key Club International and Circle K goal = $3 million total

 You can’t go wrong when asking people to save lives through donation!

When: October-December 2016

Service Hour Credit: 1 hr. for each box turned in up to 2 hrs .for more than 1 box

Donation Accepted: Cash or Check payable to Kiwanis International Foundation

What:  2nd Harvest Food Bank

When: Wednesday, November 16, 2016, 6 – 8 pm

Where: 1051 Bing Street, San Carlos

 

What: Safeway Holiday Food Drive with Division 34

When: Saturday, November 19, 2015 from 10am – 3 pm

Where: Safeway Belmont and Safeway Foster City

Task: Hand out flyer asking shoppers entering the grocery door to purchase $10 or pre-packed food to feed the poor.

Purchased food groceries will be picked up by 2 nd Harvest Food Bank.

Volunteers Needed:

10 am – 12:30 pm 12:30 pm – 3 pm

Safeway Belmont, 2100 Ralston Ave. 4 volunteers 4 volunteers

Safeway Foster City, 921 E. Hillsdale Blvd. 6 volunteers 6 volunteers

 

What:  2nd Harvest Food Bank

When: Tuesday, November 22, 2016, 6 – 8 pm

Where: 1051 Bing Street, San Carlos

 

 

DECEMBER 2016

What:  Night of Holiday Lights (annual San Carlos event)

When: Friday, December 2, 2016, 5 PM – 9:00 PM

Where: meet at the City of San Carlos booth/tent located between the 600 and 700 blocks of Laurel.Laurel St, San Carlos

Tasks: Manage crafts and game activities with kids; 3 blocks in Laurel Street will be closed for this event. Wear warm

clothes and your club tshirt.

Volunteers Needed: see below. We will fill these up with Carlmont and NDHS Key Club volunteers.

5 pm – 7 pm (2 hr @) 7 pm – 9 pm (2 hr @)

What:  Breakfast with Santa

When: Saturday, December 10, 2016 from 9 am – 1:00 pm

Where: San Carlos Adult Commuity Center, 601 Chestnut St, San Carlos

Tasks: Serve breakfast and work with kids at the arts/crafts section

Volunteers: 14

 

What:  Toy Drive Gift Wrapping Party

Jointly sponsored by San Mateo County Fire Dept., Sheriff Dept., and Kiwanis

Some of the toys will benefit needy families identified by the Sheriff Dept. at various schools.

When:  December TBD, 2016 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Where: Red Morton Community Center, 1120 Roosevelt Ave., Redwood City

Task: Wrap presents donated by residents in San Mateo County. Sequoia Key Club will be volunteering also. Wrapping

papers, tapes, bows, and supplies will be provided. Santa and other Disney greeting volunteers.

 

What:  Toys-For- Tots Gift Wrapping

When: Saturday, December TBD, 9 am – 10:30 am

Where: San Mateo Fire Department (station 23), #31 West 27 th Ave., San Mateo

Task:  Wrap presents donated by residents in San Mateo County. Enjoy snack and a free t-shirt

 

What:  SM Kiwanis K-Mart Shopping for Children

When: Saturday, December TBD, 2016 from 8 am – 9:30 am

Where: K-mart, 1700 S. Delaware Street, San Mateo

Task: A child will be assigned for you to help pick clothing of their choice up to $100

 

What: Gift Wrapping at Barnes &Noble (Club fundraiser opportunity)

When: November After Thanksgiving through December 24

Where: Barnes & Noble, Hillsdale Blvd

Task: Provide gift wrapping service to customers.

 All tsip go to Club fund.

 Volunteer can work multiple shifts.

 Volunteer can bring homework during the slow shift times

 If there is no volunteer in one of the shifts, the shift will be cancelled.

 At leaset 3 volunteers in each shift from afternoon 2 pm to 10 pm, weekend shifts starts at 10 am – 10 pm.
